Motl vs. Wittich:

Maybe it’s just me, but I believe the reporters covering the Motl vs. Wittich trial must be falling asleep because the trial has been so boring. There doesn’t seem to be much action – at least the Tweets are few and far between.

I have my doubts that we’ll see or hear about a Tom Cruise/Jack Nicholson moment like the one they had in the movie, “A Few Good Men.”

Kaffee (Cruise): I want the truth!
Col. Jessep (Nicholson): You can’t handle the truth!

If you don’t remember this case, Jonathan Motl is the Montana Commissioner of Political Practices and Art Wittich is a state legislator who is accused by Motl of violating the state’s political campaign laws during the 2010 primary election.

We’re yawning here…

ISIS Hunting Tag:

The campaign team of Congressman Ryan Zinke is always good for a laugh. Yesterday I received a fundraising email from the Zinke campaign which told me:

Once you chip in $15 you can own your very own ISIS hunting tag to display your commitment to protecting the United States — just as I have done as a Commander and as a member of Congress.

Plane-Gate – Shortchanged?

It’s been amazing to watch how gullible some reporters are in Montana. The Montana Republicans scored more political points today when Billings Gazette reporter Tom Lutey and Great Falls Tribune reporter Phil Drake took the bait. Lutey devoted over 600 words to another story about Governor Steve Bullock and Plane-Gate, while the “Watchdog” Drake devoted over 700 words to the story.

Lutey reported this:

In a letter to the Democratic governor Tuesday, 40 Republican legislators asked Bullock to show the math behind his $2,672 reimbursement to the state for 21 plane trips involving not only official government business, but also campaign functions.

These 40 Republican legislators don’t want the taxpayers of Montana to be shortchanged by the Governor when he reimburses the state for the use of the plane.

Nonetheless, Plane-Gate won’t be dying anytime soon because if you throw enough crap against the wall, some of it is bound to stick.

TWW Searches:

It’s always interesting to see what people are searching for when they visit The Western Word (TWW).

I can see about the last 10 items people search for on this website. I predict one of the statewide races will get very interesting over the next few months. Stay tuned.

SCOTUS’ 4-4 Decision:

It’s good news for the lefties. The Associated Press (AP) reported:

In the clearest sign yet of the impact of Justice Antonin Scalia’s death, U.S. labor unions scored a major victory Tuesday with a tie vote in a high-profile Supreme Court case they had once seemed all but certain to lose.

The so-called experts will say if President Barack Obama had been able to place someone on the court, it would have been a clear victory for the lefties, but one never knows (See John Roberts. See David Souter).

D.C. Madam’s Call Log:

Some folks may remember the “D.C. madam.” She operated Pamela Martin and Associates, an escort agency in Washington, D.C. She released thousands of phone records of her “clients.” One of her clients was ultra-conservative Senator David Vitter of Louisiana.

According to the U.S. News & World Report, her attorney says he has phone records that could influence the outcome of the presidential election, and he’s threatening to release one or more names on the steps of the U.S. Supreme Court if he’s denied a hearing on his right to distribute them.

The court should allow him to release the information. This Presidential election needs some excitement…

Trump’s Campaign Manager:

Donald Trump’s campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, was charged with simple battery Tuesday which means this Presidential campaign season is becoming more like “House of Cards” every day.

The Associated Press reported that police determined that a video at a campaign event shows Lewandowski grabbing Michelle Fields, who worked for Breitbart News at the time, as she tried to ask Trump a question after a March 8 appearance.

Campaign managers are supposed to stay out of the public eye.

Many of us know what “House of Cards” character Frank Underwood would do about Ms. Fields…

Quote of the Campaign:

I bet GOP Presidential candidate Ted Cruz practiced the following line in front of his mirror several times before he said it in front of the cameras:

“Donald, you’re a sniveling coward and leave Heidi the hell alone.”

Cruz is practiced and polished. He speaks in a rhythm that very seldom exceeds five to 10 words before a pause. Then with a Reagan-like turn of his head, he fires off another few carefully-scripted words.

His fellow Canadians must be very proud. I bet he could fill an arena in Calgary…
